The Daily Bat: The RIGHT news for the RIGHT American
First “bats,” now birds. How many viruses can the world handle at once? Well, here’s another one to add to your list! According to an article by the Daily Caller, which you can read here, China has reported its first human case of the H10N3 bird flu strain.
I feel like China needs to take some time to reflect.
I pray to God that this does not escalate into something serious, but its 2021, so who knows. I’ve stopped believing that things couldn’t possibly get any worse, because they always do.
They say that the possibility of human-to-human transmission is low, but the rules for Covid flip-flopped so many times that I refuse to believe that.
Could everyone just keep their hands clean and stop touching their eyes, nose, and mouth? That’d be great.
A 41-year-old man in the Chinese province of Jiangsu is the first human to have contracted the H10N3 strain of bird flu, the country’s National Health Commission said Tuesday.
The man was hospitalized with the disease in late April after showing symptoms and a fever, the commission said in a statement reported by Reuters. He was diagnosed with the virus a month later once stable, and is the only person confirmed to have contracted the disease.
H10N3 is a relatively low pathogenic strain, the NHC said, adding that its risk of spreading widely was very low.
